Shanxi sees progress in fitness-for-all cause

The 8th Member Representative Conference of the Shanxi Provincial Sports Federation was held in Taiyuan, North China's Shanxi province, on April 10. 

In recent years, the federation has consistently emphasized both traditional fitness programs and popular emerging activities, achieving remarkable success in its fitness-for-all cause. 

At the conference, Su Yajun, the former chairman of the federation, summarized that by the end of 2023, there were approximately 2,000 sports social organizations at all levels established across the province; seven cities and 41 counties had established associations for social sports instructors; and there were 18,000 national fitness instruction stations in active operation throughout the province. Furthermore, a total of 97,600 public welfare sports instructors were trained to promote the development of the province's fitness-for-all cause. 

Over the last five years, the federation has organized nearly 300 fitness-for-all competitions and events, and established multiple event brands, cumulatively attracting more than 10 million people to participate. 

The federation has also established the "Physical Fitness and Sports Rehabilitation Demonstration Base" and the "Elderly Sports and Health Demonstration Base" to serve a greater number of people in a more direct manner. 

During the conference, the members and leadership of the federation's 8th committee were also elected. Zhao Yanfeng, director of Sport Bureau of Shanxi Province, was elected as the new chairman of the Shanxi Provincial Sports Federation. Zhao stated that the new committee will actively explore new models for the development of sports organizations and carry out a rich variety of public sports events with local characteristics.
