Shanxi to enhance public cultural services

North China's Shanxi province recently released the "2024 Work Plan for Beneficial Cultural Programs in Shanxi", to better guarantee the basic cultural needs and interests of the people and expand the coverage of its public cultural activities.

The plan specifies that this year, Shanxi will build 20 provincial-level public cultural service brands, cultivate 4,000 rural art troupes, scout 2,000 talented individuals specializing in local rural culture, and train 4,000 rural culture leaders. 

Specifically, the province will dispatch 4,000 rural art troupes to organize more than 30 performances in rural areas, and it will also encourage them to carry out various public cultural activities in villages, enterprises, communities, military camps, nursing homes, welfare institutions, and special education schools.

Taking township comprehensive cultural stations and grassroots comprehensive service centers as its main arenas, the province will conduct activities such as cultural dissemination, skills training, and the popularization of performing arts. This will cultivate local cultural talents and artists, while also driving the development and inheritance of local cultures. The rural cultural leaders will organize villagers and community residents to participate in cultural activities no fewer than 12 times annually.

Furthermore, in order to achieve the standardized and sustainable implementation of the Free Rural Theater Performances Program, Shanxi plans to organize 10,000 free performances in rural areas this year to culturally benefit a larger population.
